A couple of hours during the afternoon lying by the pool for the last few days will maybe end when the temp drops back to the normal sixty-something degree weather in a day or two.
Yesterday I started the painting project at 7am. Mom and I moved things out of her bedroom. Everything except her bed. I just moved that to the other side. I wiped everything down. I masked what I needed to mask off. I opened the first gallon of paint. I painted straight through until noon. It was all done except the inside of the closet and a little bit of trim.
I went to the pool for a couple of hours and then I went to take a shower. It didn’t take long in the evening to put everything back.
We’ve decided to take a few days off before we start up the painting again. Tonight she’ll be getting on a tour bus and going somewhere. Tomorrow both of us are going to Organ Stop Pizza, whatever that is. And then Saturday morning and probably most of the day we’ll be going with Perry (formerly from Idaho, now from Phoenix) and his wife to the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. https://www.smoca.org/ I’m really looking forward to this. Mom isn’t too sure but she’ll go.
So yeah, we’re booked up. A good thing I suppose.
I’ve been trying to get Moms cabinets, freezer and frig cleaned out. I think I’m making progress and then we’re back at the grocery store. We’ve been to the store twice in the week I’ve been here. The main problem is that Mom doesn’t remember what all she has. And then that stuff gets buried. I’ve sent the EBT card back to Jassy to use. We don’t need it here. Not at all.
I went and got an Arizona ID card for $12. As soon as that comes in the mail I’ll be able to get a library card. And then I can use their book reservation system. And then maybe I can get back on track.
The TV. Mom likes the TV on. For the noise she says. So when she goes out to her sewing room or out anywhere I turn it off. When she comes back in she turns it back on. But . . . it is taking her a little longer each time to realize it is off and then turn it on. Baby steps.
I can sit right here in the quiet and look up at the mountain and be perfectly content.
Maybe I need to write an entry about the pool and old (older than I) very brown people.
And then morph into an entry about hanging out on a college campus vs. hanging out in a +55 RV village.
