That went quite well in Stuff

I feel asleep early tonight on my night off, so now I’ll probably be up until sunrise, which is nothing unusual lately. Just weird to have had a nap earlier on. I guess I’d better get used to it now that I’m in my 30’s!
Work was alright last night. I was pretty much in charge of the nightfill team, but there was a store manager from another store helping us out, who seemed pretty cool. She was some Asian lady and at first I didn’t even realize who she was, but she helped out so much getting Christmas stuff onto the back ends, which free’d up a shitload of space in the dock.
We had to work around the tradies (again) who’d decided to sand and paint the back dock, so there’s us trying to drag pallets past them without a) running into the paint job - which was a bright yellow paint btw), running into them with the pallet jacks and c) running straight over the power cords as they were blocking the path. That went surprisingly okay - the electric jack just ran straight over the top of the cords. I didn’t expect it to, but thankfully it did. Then that electric one died so I was forced to use manual ones (ergh!) and I knew it wasn’t going to happen, so luckily a tradie yelled out and ended up hanging the power cord over some railings in the roof so I could get past.
There was SO much dust in that storeroom though from all the sanding. It’s all cement in there, so most of it was probably just years upon years of caked on dirt, but I couldn’t breathe in there without covering my face. Thankfully it settled after a while.
My manager was there when I got there, but he was pretty keen to get out and go drink (lol). I asked him if a whole heap of old shelves and brackets shoved near the milk pallets were rubbish and he goes, ‘Yeah they are, just throw them out.’ so I piled them into a trolley and took them downstairs and parked the trolley near the dock bins ready to toss later when I had a chance. I had more important things to get done.
Well, just as well I DIDN’T throw them out, because when the refit team started, I saw the tradies upstairs polishing them, making them all look spick and span again! LOL! We’d be completely screwed if I had thrown them, and I would have been dumpster-diving and trying to lift those heavy fuckers back out again!
Not only that - when we were breaking down the road, I saw we got in a few boxes of ‘Frozen’ (you know, the movie) memorabilia. Just like metal plates and bowls with pretty pictures from the movie on them. My manger says, “Just throw them out.” When I queried, “You serious?” (cos you just don’t throw out stock the warehouse has sent us lol), he goes, “I wasn’t joking,”, takes the box from me, and throws it into the dumpster.
Righteo then.
I later saw in the catalogue that they are advertised for $4 each. Oh well, too bad if a customer wants one!
So yeah, I think he really has had enough haha.
Luckily the night ran rather smoothly, considering the mess we had to work around. I think it’s only because my manager put more staff on that I managed to get it all done, plus the boys worked really well. One of the girls is really lazy and of course she just played on her phone at one point, but thankfully she at least did something. Ergh. The other girl is a fantastic worker though, and we had a third girl from another store who is good as well. All the guys at work oogle over the third girl. She is really pretty. Even I was stunned at how pretty I was when I eventually looked at her face lol.
I only took a 10-minute lunch break though, because I wanted to get everything done on time. Glad I did, just made everything easier. If I were a manager I’d probably do this more often than not. It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out in the coming months. The new 2IC hasn’t started yet, but is apparently a friend of the manager, so we’ll see how well that goes. Apparently my manager had to pull a heap of strings to even get him the interview, so yeah, it really is whom you know, it seems.
I went to the gym tonight, because I’ve been hopeless lately. We had another storm hit yesterday afternoon and I was glad I’d gotten my groceries delivered. They only stuffed up one thing - they didn’t give me my orange juice I ordered, but they did however provide me with 3 jars of peanut butter when I only ordered the one. It works out better in my favour anyway as the juice was $5 but the peanut butter is $5.50 each, so meh, I won’t bother making a complaint. I just have to go and get juice another time, and I had water with dinner instead. I did however order a heap of those new Cadbury orange creation chocolate bars because they are only 85 cents this week at my work. I ordered 6 and I ate all 6 of them. Ergh, why do I do this? This was right after I’d cooked myself a nice rump steak with salad and had watermelon. If I hadn’t have bought that chocolate in the first place, I wouldn’t have been tempted. Or at least I should have had them in moderation. I’m obsessed with them though. They are so yummy! The orange really hits my taste buds. I never should have tried them in the first place.
So yeah, I felt guilty and went to the gym. I needed to go anyway, badly, as since my birthday I think I’ve only been three times.
Having said that, I’m certainly no fat tub of lard, and I feel I look okay. My weight is where I want it to be and I just have to have better willpower when it comes to treats, as I know they will only hinder me. I won’t fully give them up, as I’m not that anal, but yeah, my chocolate cravings are so strong sometimes!
My work Christmas party is this weekend, so I hardly think I’m going to be avoiding alcohol at that either. Hopefully that’s a bit of fun, as I feel I don’t really do much fun stuff these days.
