Since I had cleaned out the van and removed all the bedding I spent Wednesday night on Jassy’s loveseat. It was not a comfortable night. With the warmth of the apartment, the ticking of the clock, the refrigerator running, and the fact that I wasn’t able to stretch out was really irritating.
I was awake at 7am and woke Jassy up at 8am. After our morning coffee we left for the airport. At about 9:30am she dropped me off and after much hug she left me there.
TSA was a joke. I thought it was hilarious how the public looked all scared and the TSA folks looked all serious. They had a new porno-scanner. Everybody got peeped at. So fucking stupid.
I had a two hour wait for my flight. I tried to watch the latest episode of Sons of Anarchy but the airports wifi wouldn’t let me connect to a file sharing site. Oh well.
I hadn’t picked a seat so I was given seat 32F. It was an MD-80 series plane so I was on the starboard side between the wing and the engine with a window seat. The flight was a little delayed because of rain when it left Mesa earlier. I had a window seat but no view. We lifted off through clouds, flew above a solid cloud cover for two-and-a-half hours and it wasn’t until the last ten minutes before landing that I got to see some desert. It was the first time I’ve ever disembarked from a plane on the tarmac with stairs. Kind of cool.
Mom was waiting out front. It was cloudy and had just stopped raining after raining all night. While we were driving around looking for a place to eat lunch we kept having to navigate while guessing the direction because it was cloudy enough that we couldn’t see the mountain. There were new roads out there Mom wasn’t familiar with and of course I had no clue. We finally found a Chili’s in Signal Butte. A very good lunch! Blackberry iced tea!
We stopped for groceries at Fry’s (a Kroger store!). And then we spent the evening just sitting around. I had forgotten that Mom always has the TV on. Just for the noise, she says. Maybe I haven’t watched TV in so long that I’ll be able to ignore it. I’d hate to be rude and sit outside or go out walking. We’ll see.
Mom had just bought a new hide-a-bed to replace her old one. It’s a twin-sized with a memory foam mattress. I slept really well last night.
