So of course it’s nearly 5am and I’m still not asleep. Granted, I did work til 1am this morning, after starting at 2:30pm. Phew haven’t done a shift that long in a while. There was a lot ot do and it seemed to go pretty fast so it’s alwaus a good shift when that happens. Back to do it all again tonight, but a short-shift this time.

I went for a walk yesterday evening just before dusk, just to check out the surrounding area after the storm.
Wowie. The whole of Spring Hill had the scent of greenery. So many trees and plants had been blown across roads and footpaths so it was a real pleasant sensation to my sense of smell. I could smell everything from tree sap to beautiful flowers. I swear I could even smell pot at one point.
I made myself laugh after thinking that - knowing that this storm probably destroyed some inner-city hippie’s pot-plantation. Either that, or someone in one of the apartments overhead was smoking it. Does smoked pot and a marijuana leaf have a similar smell? LOL shows how much I know. Cos I’m SUCH a junkie and all.
Anyway, the point is, the air was the FRESHest I have noticed it in forever. It reminded me of the air when I was down in Tasmania, where you could just breathe it in and it was like heaven.

Anyway, I didn’t stay out long. The storm had left but a bit of rain was hanging around. It was all over the news when I got back, naturally. They said it was Brisbane’s worst storm in 29 years. And it lasted all of, what? 25 minutes? If that?
Certainly did some damage though. Tons more photos have appeared since the ones I posted here, but hey I think everyone gets the idea. #Brisstorm was the highest trending.

Right next to Phillip Hughes, of course. Man, what a shock that was. For those overseas who might not know, Phil was an Aussie cricketer who faced a fastball during a match on Tuesday. Despite wearing a helmet, the cricket ball struck him in an obscure unprotected area, designed that way so that the batsman can see behind them (the temple is protected but the area he got hit isn’t). But since Phil turned toward the ball and the unfortunate way the ball bounced, it connected with him and he was on the ground, stretchered off the field.
Anyway, he had surgery to relieve the pressure from his brain, but unfortunately he passed away yesterday afternoon.
It’s really stunned everyone. If it wasn’t for this freakish storm we had, it’s all anyone here would’ve heard about.
So yeah, the guy who bowled the ball must have a lot going on right now. To have something like that on his conscience. MAN! A friendly game of cricket, resulted in a death.
Just goes to show. Life can be an unpredictable thing. And these circumstances were just a million to one.
Now Cricket Australia are looking into the re-design of the helmet.
A lot of Australians are putting cricket bats outside their houses as a mark of respect, and #putoutyourbats has been trending for about 24 hours now.

Anyway I’m gonna get some sleep. A lot more stuff on my mind, but not really suitable for a public entry ha.
