Playtime in Everyday Ramblings

Well, the picture is a little dark but remarkably they are not moving. They are now grooming and bapping and biting each other. Sometimes I look up and they are quietly rolling across the floor kicking each other. They do not appear to want to share me at certain times and other times they are fine with it. There is a rhythm to this I am sure.
I brought home a fairly large bag of dry food from the adoption place, a premium formula they most likely had donated. Diego ate a little tiny bit of it now and again so when I have been feeding them a 3 oz can of wet food twice a day it has been like piranhas at a feeding frenzy. I am finally working out how to get close to the same amount of food in both of them. Diego weighs about a half pound more than Carlo.
I could tell they were both still hungry and was beginning to despair, as my schedule is booked over the next few days, in terms of getting out and finding another brand.
Last night, much to my huge relief Carlo started eating the dry food. Part of it is the adjustment but I also think on some level they might have been working me to see if I’d feed them more of the premium wet food!
This morning the feeding frenzy was just subtly less intense. Whew.
I made an appointment for their well kitty visit with my vet next Monday. We have licensing requirements here in my county and they are also required to have rabies shots. Kes and Most Honorable don’t have that where they are.
There seems to be some real confusion about how old they actually are. The paperwork says three and four. I wonder if they are from different litters? They definitely have the same parents. I’ll never know. Their energy is that of two year olds so I’ll go with that.
Diego gets a little confused about play and love when he is all riled up. I just have to be careful of my hands at times and patient about picking up pencils that have been swiped onto the floor. Oh what fun that is apparently!
Diego likes playing with rattly balls and string and Carlo is a leaper and loves Da Bird and another toy I have attached to a long stick. I will need a new bird soon.
We are all learning about the kitchen counters. I am being gentle but firm and consistent. That will take weeks but I think we will get it.
On Sunday evening they managed to lock themselves together in the bathroom. I propped the inside doors all open when I left yesterday.
Tomorrow morning I take Diego back to the adoption place to have his eye sewn shut. I bet my vet might have a different solution but this is free and I very much hope I don’t regret it. Please think good thoughts our way. I need to get him in the carrier in time for the cab and he is not supposed to eat. I managed to get Stella in the carrier. I can do this. I can.
I am tired. I went to an all day work conference yesterday. It was in a nice hotel not far from where I live. I walked there in the cold. The food was marvelous. The keynote speaker had a very interesting story but the presentation was a bit flat. Mostly what I picked for the day was tech jargon and this will be a good thing. I didn’t get an answer to a question I had about a process we run, but I got an answer to another question I didn’t know I had.
Eventually I will work my way through this exhaustion. It is a small thing but it is what is manifesting for me right now.
In the meantime, umm, I think I need to go P-L-A-Y.
