Long few days in Just in Case

I’m way past catching up on the missed NOJOMO. It’s been a rough few days. On the good side, my dad turned 77 today and is still going strong. Here he is opening the birthday present he bought himself. (Well, officially it’s from my mom. Lol) yes, he has a Christmas shirt on. He also had Christmas music playing a week or so back. That’s very much not like my dad who usually is a twin for The Grinch.
While he was opening it he got sassy with my mom, and this was her response. (That was part of her Mother’s Day gift from me, one of those bug zappers. ) She threatens him with it all the time. :D
In the past few days there’s been a lot of sorrow and sadness going on around me. My sister and Tootie are at the hospital right now with her Mother in Law who has bleeding on the brain. The doctor isn’t sure about the cause, but it doesn’t look good. MiL has dialysis every other day and has for years. She’s tired and she’s ready to go. Where, you may ask, is my lovely Brother in Law? He couldn’t “handle” it - so he stayed home to watch Cbaby. Who called me 30 minutes after they left, crying. He drank several beers and went to bed. She was alone and scared about her grandmother. I could write pages about how angry I was. I talked to her until her mom called her with an update.
This weekend, my hometown lost a landmark - when I was a kid it was a Dairy Queen, but quickly became Burger Barn. It’s where most of us worked at some point or other in high school, where everyone ate, where there was the best ice cream....it was the center of our town and in tons of our memories. It was gutted by a fire. No one was hurt, they know it started in the kitchen, but not sure how. The family that has owned it for for 50 years is still deciding if they want to rebuild.
And probably one of the most heartbreaking pictures ever -
A co-worker I had at my old school is at St. Jude’s with her grandson who was just diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma. He has a tumor in his stomach, which is what they first found, then they found another on his spine, there are spots on his bones, and his marrow tested positive - he’s in really bad shape. This family has dealt with St. Jude’s before. My co-worker’s nephew was in and out of St. Jude’s for years before losing his battle, at age 7, to a brain tumor. If you are the praying sort - please keep them in your prayers. If not - then in your healing/positive thoughts. They need all they can get. This is my co-worker’s son, with his 2 year old son.
I don’t ever like to do anything like this on here, because I know everyone has their own struggles, but they know they will be there for at least the next 6 months with the treatments they are telling them to expect. They are doing different fundraisers - here’s a shirt that they are selling:
