SW… is out at a ladies’ dinner - and I have the house to myself - and the first thing I had to do was get my dinner - which means a trip to the fish and chip shop for a ‘fish supper’. Now normally, when we get one of these we share it. One piece of fish each, and I have the bulk of the chips. It is quite enough.
But tonight I had a fish supper to myself!!!!
I am now stuffed, full, and just finishing my second glass of white wine. It is actually too much - and you have to eat it quite fast otherwise it gets cold - so I am full, stuffed - and quietly burping.

This dinner always coincides with Children in Need on the BBC - the annual fundraising event which last year got over £50 million. I am not averse to CiN - and think it is great to get this kind of money for very deserving causes, but to be honest it is all a bit naff - as ‘celebrities’ so their bit - and some celebrities too.
There is the excellent documentary about Johnny Cash on BBC4 later - so that should do me fine. By the way, I have sent my contribution to CiN

So, here I am on PB writing this before watching University Challenge, which has been going for a million years - where are all those well dressed undergraduates from the 1960s? Just finished running the country I fear!!! In archive programmes they always bring out the clips of Stephen Fry being clever in UC.

After all the rain it has been a nice day - and we went out to see two exhibitions and do some shopping - the colours of the trees are still stunning in places - and the rivers are in spate - it is great to get out and enjoy the views - and then come back to my home made soup again - yep, I have been at the soup making again - hearty vegetable were your spoon stands up straight in it like an erect penis.

Oh - in case you were wondering - Pudsey is the mascot of Children in Need
