After a week of unsettled weather I enjoyed a beautiful, warm, sunny Easter Sunday. Hubby is in Cardiff with Louise. He will be coming home tomorrow evening and we will have an Easter meal together then and hopefully go out for a drive if the weather is the same.
The garden is looking beautiful. My magnolia tree is in bloom and so is the cherry I planted 7 years ago. I have only seen it bloom once before, the year after I planted it, and it was very small then. Later that year I went to Cardiff and never managed to get home for the blossom time so it is wonderful to see it as tall as the magnolia and covered with pink blooms.
I went for a short walk this afternoon. I tried to get to the little wood at the back of our house to see if the bluebells were out there, but unfortunately it has all become so overgrown while I was away that I can’t get there any more.
I came home and went to sit out on the patio with a Cadbury’s creme egg and some Vimto. I only let myself buy creme eggs at Easter, have to be careful with my diet as my cholesterol has gone up a bit. I found the Vimto on Amazon. It was my favourite drink as a child.
Afterwards I planted some calendula seeds. It’s a bit late but they should be out by the middle of summer. I would have had them in earlier but the first seed packet I bought disappeared. I think the cat knocked them behind the sideboard so I had to wait until I could buy another packet.
Rain is forecast for tomorrow so I will get on with a few inside jobs. I hope it clears later in the week as I had hoped Hubby and I could go for a drive to see the bluebells in the woods further afield.
