I do not want to make this into a chronicle of living with someone with dementia - although that tends to be the focus. I want to talk about the amount of support I am actually getting.
Firstly both next-door neighbours, but particularly the one who calls in to check on SW and make her a cup of tea when I am walking with my group on a Tuesday afternoon. She is also someone I can chat to about what is going on when we see each other on the drive.

There is the walking group - and particularly H who is my special friend. In a way we support each other in different ways - we are in contact through the week, but the personal meeting is important.

In the last week I have been contacted by a couple of the support agencies and I had a 90 meeting at home with one of the team from the Memory Clinic who did a care assessment, checking on all the things I do, looking ahead, taking about support et etc. I now have a couple of crucial phone number I did not have before. She is referring me to other agencies for further support. One outcome is that I have to consider getting a safer shower put in - on my list of things to do.

The most important thing is to get advice on speech and language and diet - I have to see the GP about referrals and that needs to be done this week. Chewing and swallowing are are now key issues to be addressed.

Meanwhile the exercise sessions are going well - I know they are helping my general outlook and self belief - as well as helping the tension. I am finding time to read while SW is watching the tv - and as the weather improves and it is warmer to disappear into the conservatory to paint again. This is definitely a key aim.

And the braces - a belt is not enough to hold up my trousers I find - something to do with change of body shape!! So I am wearing braces and everything seems much more secure!!!
