The Great Burden I carried blindly. Completely unaware that it was on my back.
It wasn’t until I listened to a description of that aurum constitution that I was like. Huh. Isn’t that just how people exist? Doesn’t everyone feel crushed and want to die when they fail at something monumental that costs other people something?
I mean. That’s life isn’t it?
Turns out it’s not 😅

I have had a sympathy with the Japanese and their culture. I’ve read Shogun, which is great in itself a good read anyway. But I never questioned the whole seppuku concept. Yeah it was different, but I understood. And the scene when the English captain learned the value of seppuku seemed to me to be a relationship of wrongness becoming right. Because after that he was made Samurai.

So Samurai is the character of aurum, exactly. He took it on and was then accepted.

I had to take on the aurum character to be accepted.
