nothing makes you feel more
like you’re living in a movie
than the store you just walked into
having the same radio station on
that you had in the car

that few second gap
then jumping right back in
for auditory whiplash
as if you changed scenes
with no edit to the soundtrack

for a moment
you can see the camera
and the flood lights
and the marks laid out in gaffer’s tape

but only for a moment
after a few you catch back up
you return to being fooled
that all this is real
