The resurrection of the genetically modified (engineered) extinct Dire wolf is rather exciting, right? And a bit scary. So many endless possibilities. Colossal Biosciences, I believe, are the same scientists who talk about bringing the Woolly Mammonth back. Where would they put it? I figure you can't put these animals out in the wild along with their counterparts as there would be problems with natural balance. It's a different world. Different environment. Colossal's chief animal care expert, Matt James even stated these dire wolves will probably never learn how to kill a giant elk or a big deer because they won't have the opportunities to learn from wild dire wolf parents. However, in the famous words of Dr. Ian Malcolm played by Jeff Goldblum in the 1993 Jurassic Park movie, "Life finds a way."

I wonder what the first dinosaur they'll try to bring back? (Sarire humor)

There may be a potential cure to help treat ALS and Dementia. Apparently, there is a natural antioxidant found in foods like kale and berries called kaempferol. It helps protect nerve cells and researchers discovered it improves energy production and eases stress which helps maintain muscle function and slow degeneration. Unfortunately, our bodies did not absorb kaempferol well and it needs massive quantities to be effective. So scientists are developing lipid-based nanoparticles to help kaempferol effectively get delivered to our brains and nervous system. I have this strong feeling in my gut that I will be suffering from early onset dementia and I fear my mom may be showing some signs of dementia as well. So, finding an effective treatment would be amazing, but I doubt it will be available in our lifetimes.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. plans to tell the CDC to stop recommending fluoridation in communities across the country. The U.S, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced it will review new scientific information on the potential health risks of fluoride in drinking water. The CDC says fluoride strengthens teeth and reduces cavities by replacing minerals lost during wear and tear. It's been considered a greatest public health achievement of the last century. The American Dental Association says it reduces tooth decay in children and adults by over 25%.

The problems with too much fluoride can cause streaking or spots on teeth. Studies have shown there is a link between fluoride and brain development. There was also a report last year by the National Toxicology Program, which conducts studies in 6 other countries, including Canada and China, that drinking water with more than 1.5 milligrams of fluoride per liter, was associated with lower IQs in kids.

Kennedy has called fluoride a "dangerous neurotoxin" and "an industrial waste". He has claimed fluoride has been associated with arthritis, bone breaks, and thyroid disease. Studies have suggested those links may exist, usually because of high fluoride levels, though there is no definitive conclusions.

I guess we wait for the results from the EPA.

Lastly, because I could go on and on and most people find all this very boring, the US expected a big travel year, but overseas visitors--angered by Trump--are heading elsewhere, of course.

International travelers to the US are declining, with 7.1 million visitors overseas from January to March, which is 3.3% fewer than in 2024.

Leisure trips by Chinese citizens to U.S. destinations like Disneyland are decreasing dramatically.

Economic tourism predicts these declines will continue even after Trump's presidency ends.

Maybe this is my chance to finally go to Disneyland since there won't be as many people. (Joking)

I'm finding a lot of these articles are connected to AP, so that's a little frustrating. I like to find a diverse collection of news sources that are non-biased.
