I Prefer Busy in The Kid Used To Dream

This past week I flew across the country and managed to squeeze in a board meeting, a networking event, gave a Ted Talk with a partner, did some sightseeing, managed to do a 5 minute comedy bit at a corporate event and all in 4 days.
I’ve been approached by a producer wanting to work with me. The caveat is he doesn’t want me to record songs that I’ve written. I would say I don’t know how that makes me feel, but that wouldn’t be true. It pisses me off! I could understand if I didn’t have some independent success with the songs I’ve written. Oh well I’ll get over it.
Back to this week -
As busy as it sounded - I was in the middle of Native American territory. I’m not sure how they pulled it off but the atmosphere at the resort was so calming. They went out of their way to make me feel welcomed. I love that I can appreciate culture. I kept finding myself telling any of the workers how much I appreciated them. I always wonder if they appreciate it or had rather I just not look at them and leave them alone. What was amazing about this place was that most of them were from the reservation. I really wanted to spend more time and get to know them more.
I would love to tour more and have the ability to meet more people with culture. Music these days seems to be like politics. Your genre only speaks to the same types of people who listen. When I am out doing speeches - that’s not the case. Maybe it’s time to lay down the instrument and hold the mic tighter.
