I don't get paid to feel...but in The Kid Used To Dream

I have to wear a few hats. When I’m on the road I am both the road manager, production manager and the band leader. Somewhere in the mix, I’m the artist. At home, I am the office manager, legal manager, CFO, head of marketing, lead negotiator and representative.
I realized today while reading a Facebook post from a fellow musician that in today’s environment we can’t feel anything outside our music. We can’t have opinions. We can’t lean one way or the other. If it’s politics, we must remain a-political. If it’s religion - well, we have to be all things to all people. One statement one way or the other can anhilalate our paycheck.
I still have to supplement my music gig with some management contracts. I currently am waiting on 5 major contracts that some closed 3 months ago to finalize payment for my work. If I get caught up in my feelings - I’m doomed.
Oh yeah, the fellow musician’s Facebook post. It got him cancelled. He’s in a bad way and I worry about him. I don’t think he’d do something to harm himself but he might lean towards substance abuse if he’s not careful. I sent an encouraging comment.
No, I don’t get paid to feel… I won’t get paid if I tell everyone how I feel… BUT it hurts having to hold it in.
