Lawn Equipment in Life in General

I forgot to mention I bought some new lawn equipment.
Back when Jessica and I moved to Grapevine, it was the first house I’d ever lived in where I’d be responsible for lawncare. It was a really tiny front and backyard so it didn’t make much sense to spend tons of money on a lawn set.
So I got on facebook marketplace and found some guy selling his plug in craftsman mower for like $100. It looked brand new (he even provided the box for it) and it worked well. I also bought a plug in weedeater and leaf blower to complete the set.
I decided on plug in equipment not only for the money savings but also for the power. Plug in will basically always beat battery in terms of power. But of course you have to deal with a cord so that’s the downside.
I took that equipment with me to Oklahoma and it was fine there too, but the lawn was definitely larger and it was getting a little more annoying to keep the equipment plugged in while using it. I had to buy a low gauge 100ft cord which wasn’t very cheap.
Finally we get to our new house here in Texas and the lawn is not gigantic but it’s not flat, it’s on a hill. And the plug locations aren’t the best, they are in the flower beds so the cord would constantly damage plants from me moving around.
So when I noticed the lawn was starting to see some growth (basically all weeds ugh) I decided “nah I’m getting battery powered stuff”.
Of course there are like 1 million companies out there making battery powered lawn equipment so it’s really tough to decide.
I went with a 48V greenworks mower for a few reasons.

It uses 2x 24V batteries to make 48V (as opposed to other systems that use a single higher voltage battery). That means the batteries are smaller and fit into more comapct/cheaper tools, such as drills, vacuums, grinders… etc. Now 48V is a little on the small side for a mower but after my first use I didn’t notice any power issues. We’ll see if that changes as the lawn thickens up this summer.

The price. I found a complete set (mower/string trimmer/leaf blower/2x 24V batteries) for $370. The string trimmer and the mower are plenty powerful but the blower is a little weak. They do make a stronger blower that uses 2 batteries but I’m gonna give this one a chance for a while first. The mower also stores vertically which is so great.

Greenworks has a decent reputation and warranty. Another mower I was considering was an 80V mower from harbor freight. It was a great deal as far as power/price but only had a 3 month warranty. Yeah nah there’s a reason the warranty is so short on something like that. Ego is probably the most well known/trusted brand but their batteries are basically limited to lawn equipment. Greenworks has a vast array of tools I could use.
So anyway that’s my dad post of the week enjoy!
