Another Work Trip in The Kid Used To Dream

My work trip yesterday and today landed me in a casino. I probably could have stretched my trip an extra day, but we have apocalyptic storms moving through our area so I thought I better get back home. I leave on Thursday drive 5 hours; wake up this morning - take care of my business, eat lunch - stop at an outlet mall and head home.
The casino actually comped me a meal after I had already eaten and paid. So I did what anybody else would do, I found another restaurant in the casino and spent my voucher and got it to go. I have this insulated type tote bag that I use at the grocery store to put all my frozen food in. I stored my to-go plate and headed home.
I didn’t realize till I get home 5 hours later open up this insulated bag - It reeks of weed. That explains a lot. It made me wonder if the casino wasn’t pumping marijuana through the vents to keep everybody happy 🤣. What’s weird is that I did not smell it at all while I was inside. Of course I still have a problem smelling anything since 2020.
So as I sit here on my front porch, wondering if these trees are going to stay rooted through the storm - my mind wonders if it’ll all still be here in the morning. Definitely, somewhere tonight someone’s lives are going to be upended and changed. The wind gust eerily remind me of the night that the eye wall of hurricane Katrina passed over. Nature didn’t care that I’m 5 hours north of the coast some 330 miles away. And tonight, nature doesn’t care whether I’m in the way or not.
All I can do is sit here and listen to the wind chimes singing like they’ll never sing again - belting out the tune they were made to sing. Apparently, the trees like it cuz they keep applauding and swaying to the music.
This is one front row seat I don’t care for.
