Business trip... in The Kid Used To Dream

We are currently on a business trip (1 of 2 for this month). This one is 3 days and was supposed to be full of meeting some industry people. It turns out as soon as we were about an hour from home it was like we were dating again. I believe there may be some things I’ve been miscalculating in the form of depression or something else. I was given a reality check to look at this from the standpoint of codependency. That was an eye opener. Suddenly, in the past 24 hours when you remove the chores and responsibilities of home things are amazing.

I have to examine myself and make sure I am not adding to what is causing my own emotional neglect. I am going to be mindful of the moment and enjoy.

Now, this business trip with these industry people has turned to sour grapes before it starts. Registration check in is today and it seems an organization has highjacked the meetings. When my management company approved the sponsorship of this meeting we were told it was exclusive to the artists sponsoring the event and not tied to a specific organization. When we were sent our sponsorship forms for payment - the payment had to be made to an organization. Red flag #1. Then, this week I get an itinerary change that added 15 more artists to the line up for evening concerts that I now have to participate in Red flag #2. We show up last night expecting to go and sign in and I get an email that everything may be pushed to the last 2 days of what WAS a 3 day event. Red flag…and strike 3!

I absolutely hate it for these industry folks that originally signed up for what was supposed to be a stress free event to get to know them in a more relaxed atmosphere. This has turned into a money grab for this organization that has taken over the event. Now, some of these music industry insiders are dropping out and what’s worse - my name is tied to the sponsorship…

One step forward - 900 steps backwards!
