Sydney is nice.

There's not much happening.  Or rather, there probably is, but I kinda don't wanna blow $100+ on entry price tickets.  The main party is $230+ lolz.  Anyway, I already whinged about that in my last entry.  The opening party is tonight and that one's only $50, so I could probably do that one.

The flight down was okay, until the guy who was sat next to me in the middle seat sat down, who stank.  Geez, dude, heard of deodorant?  And especially in hot Brisbane weather.  I felt bad for the lovely girl next to him, but that's what we get in cattle-class I suppose. So I had to try and adjust the airflow from the vent above me to redirect his smell lol.  I'm glad it's only an hour flight to Sydney.  He also kept shoving his phone across my face to take photos out of the window.  I hadn't even chosen a window seat - it was just allocated to me.  I should have just swapped seats with him, since he wanted to take photos of clouds so badly.

I'm actually in a different room in my hotel to the one I booked, as the air conditioner in there was leaking water onto the floor, so I let reception know and went out to get a few groceries.  They had tried to ring me whilst I was away, so I rang back and they said they'd move me rooms.  That original room was tiny and the shower door kept hitting the toilet, due to lck of space.  I was showed another room on the floor above, and although it doesn't have a street-view like the first room had (which I liked), it is slightly bigger and I can at least get in and out of the shower without squeezing myself through.  I ummed and ahhed about accepting this room, but decided to, since it has a queen bed as well and the other room had two singles.  The guy who showed me the room asked if I liked red or white wine.  I said, "White" and next thing I knew, they brought up a bucket of white wine in ice for me!  So a room upgrade and free wine, why not!?  I thought that was very nice of them.  There had been a shift-changeover in the short time I was away, and the new guy was the one who did all this, so my timing worked out.  He also noted that I had requested a late check-out on Sunday, so he has waived the $35 fee for that too.  Score!

I went for a walk up Oxford Street last night, but I think I was too early, as it was only 9:30pm and there was nobody around.  Maybe the gays are like me and just not spending their money anymore.  I'm unsiure though when they are charging so much for entry fees.  So I didn't go to the underwear party.  I'm a bit off-put by that anyway, since I'm sure that's where I got Covid two years ago, which out me in the ER here in Sydney.  So instead, I'm meeting up with a long-term internet friend from the music board I'm on, Bill, from Canada this afternoon, which should be nice.  I messaged him this morning and he's currently out on a tour, as you do as a tourist, but said he'll let me know when he's back.  That should be nice.  Other than that, I'm, of course, seeing what guys are around.  There are a few, but I think it'll pick up later today and tomorrow.  I don't even really mind if I don't hook up.  I actually got here to the hotel and asked myself, "Why am I here again?" Haha.  I must be getting old.  But I do feel good, in the sense that I couldn't even make myself get on the plane last year, and had to cancel the entire trip, due to the start of my mental health spiral, so yeah.

And it looks like the few Sydney friends that I do have have gone away haha, so a fat lot of good that is.  The only friend I may be meeting up on this trip is a guy from Canada!

I only had two glasses of that wine last night, so there's heaps left, but it left me not wanting to go to the gym here because it mellowed me out so much.  Damn alcohol, but it was free so I gotta use it!
