At work. Bored. No one’s answering their phone today. Wish I was home laying on my new zero G bed.
EC and I used some of our tax refund to finish retrofitting our house. Bought a bunch of stuff we wanted to make the rooms feel more complete. Most of the stuff arrived throughout the week so yesterday was spent in project mode.
We moved our gym equipment from the middle room to the front room, which had been serving as a “guest room” with an air mattress in it. Now it is our gym/office room. There’s a small desk that is currently holding my work computer because I thought I was going to be working from home for part of the week. That’s not looking like a very good chance any more though we did finally hire a receptionist and she’s learning fast!
Anyway, the middle room has now been converted to the guest room. Ever since we got our bed last year we talked about upgrading our bed frame. We originally got the included frame from the store that you could use to adjust your head. The other ones were way too expensive. We looked online at the time and the “fancier” ones were like $800. Cool. Let’s get one next year.
Fast forward to now: we wanted to finish setting up our guest room so there could be a proper bed and not just the air mattress. We looked into different options and then I had the bright idea! Why don’t we move our current frame to the guest room and just buy the mattress? Then we can upgrade ours like we wanted to.
I didn’t necessarily want to have our guests sleeping in a king bed but hey! it all worked out in the end. It was obviously cheaper for us only to purchase the mattress for that room, even if it is a king. We got one of those mattresses in a box from amazon and surprisingly, it’s quite comfortable. And the new frame came out to less than $400!
So, we cleared the room, lifted our mattress, moved the frame to the middle room, and unboxed the new mattress. Then we set about building our new frame, which took longer than expected due to very poor instructions. But we got it set up and the mattress fit great. We can now lift our head, feet, and hit a preset button for zero gravity position. Very comfy! It was the first thing we tried and I for sure thought we would both fall asleep right then and there. hah.
EC’s had a cough thing going on so we actually slept in separate rooms this weekend. Last night he tried the new bed and said it’s very comfortable too. Our guests will be living luxuriously when they come over. [Though no one ever comes over because it’s “too far” or whatever excuse they give]
Now that that’s done. All the rooms are complete as far as we want them. Nothing else really needs to be purchased so that’s awesome.
Next project: finishing the outside!
More on that later. I have to pack up and head back to mom’s.
rose.
