I'm going to look into 12 years a slave and Hidden Valley Road. How was American Dirt? In my TBR pile.

American Dirt read like Historical Fiction to me. It was eye opening of the dangers people take to escape their country for their various reasons but to them it is worth the risk. I am glad I read it.

  • 12 years a slave I had heard about for a while. Finally read the book. Incredible story! Reading it I could tolerate the injustice and envision in my mind. But then I thought I would watch the movie. The movie made it more real and just infuriated me SO MUCH that I quit watching it. I don't recommend the movie.
  • Hidden valley Road.. as I was reading this in April, up to that point, that was the best book I had read. There was a lot of medical history throughout the ages and various testing they have done trying to figure Schizophrenic even into the 2000's.
Even without Schizophrenic, it was interesting to read about the large family and how they fit together. I lived in Colorado Springs for 10 years in the 90's and I knew about the various places they hung at. Interesting about the Falcon Program at the Air Force Academy. It was quite the informative book
  • I do recommend "The Day the World came to Town" Those people of Gander, Newfoundland were just awesome at the spur of the moment on 9/11. They invited people into their homes to take showers, to share meals, some stayed the nights. They brought in food and bedding for the people staying in other large buildings. Some kids had flown from Germany going to Disney World and these people put on a little show for them, dressing as Disney Characters and Princess. How sweet!
And Gander used to be a Hub to refuel before planes got bigger and could make the whole Atlantic trip without refueling.

Hmmmm nice. Thanks for the further explanations.

I watched a documentary on Gander. Really sweet, but I don't think a book on that would interest me.
