As The Cat Hair Blows in Life

Well, the first few weeks of retirement have been a shit show or should I say a snow show. My part of Missouri had about two feet of snow last week which entirely stopped the city from functioning. No mail for a week and no delivery services for almost that long. There went my careful retirement plan to keep busy. I was only snow bound Sunday through Tuesday, but I was expecting a check which did not come until a week later. The famed US post office admits it was too dangerous to get out for a week. Actually, they say they went out on Wednesday and Friday but no one I know got any mail.

It’s now been 3 weeks since I got a paycheck, and I had not touched my 401 moneys because ever since my grandma died mom has been gifting me the maximum amount, she can without negatively impacting me tax wise.  I thought I had plenty in my accounts to get me through until then. Not counting on snow stopping the US mail. Finally got the check Saturday and took it to my bank to deposit it Monday. Of course, they decide they need to put a 7 day hold on it. I tried to ask the teller to call and verify the funds were there, but she pretended not to hear me.  Fortunately, I met with my financial planner later that day and we transferred money into my checking account to get me through until my Social Security stats in February.

I’m going to Utah later this week. I’m hopeful the weather will be nice enough for us to go for a walk. I heard a fun idea for a walk from a YouTube channel I watch. It’s called a color walk, and you choose a color, let’s say red, and then when you get to a corner if you see something red you turn that direction if not you continue going straight.

My initial critter sitter canceled on me, so I met with the new one yesterday. Usually when the critter sitter comes over my cats are nowhere to be found. Yesterday though we caught Gracie snoozing on the bed. We both went up to her with our hands out. Gracie actually chose the critter sitter over me, no cat nip for her, but she sound realized the lady smelled like stranger cats, so she took off under the pet. I hope this critter sitter just does her job and shows up and does the job she is being paid to do. I don’t think that is expecting much but this is my third or fourth try with Rover/Meowtel. The first one got fired two days in, the 2nd got covid a week in and the third got covid two days in.

oh man, a color walk would have me getting even more lost than I already would with my wonky brain and its inability to know where it is in space and time.

you sound well, and I hope you're having an amazing today.

Sorry about the check issues!! Can your mom do it as a transfer? CashApp and Vemo have both worked really well for me although now that I think of it…possibly not for an elderly person, lol.

The color walk sounds like so much fun!

Since I was able to take some money out of my retirement account its not as big a deal as it was last week. The money will be free to spend on the 23rd, and yes Venmo and an elderly person dont work too well. The answer in the future will be not to depend on that money and have my own finances in better shape.

Uh. Check issues. I’m sorry for that. We had to put a check in the bank and hubbs forgot to endorse it. Been so long since we’ve had to do any of that. My father died almost a year ago and she’s still dealing with things that were in his name.

Walk thing sounds interesting. I always look at those “hobbit walk” things on Facebook and think about how cool it might be to do that.
