I had a lovely Christmas Day. I had dinner with Chris and Andrea. I had thought Andrea would be doing the cooking but I was surprised that Chris did it all. He and Andrea had steak and he made a nutroast for me as I am vegetarian. It was delicious, my son is a good cook.

They have a kitchen diner that overlooks a small garden and he had put up lights across the back of the house with a beautiful Christmas tree by the window.
I was reminded of my mother who always had a dream of living in a house with a French window that opened on to a lawn that was covered in snow on Christmas morning, I think she saw it in an old movie, but we lived in a pub with no garden. Then my father retired and for two years we did live in a house with a French window that opened on to a lawn. On our first Christmas their we woke up to snow so Mum got her dream.
It didn’t snow yesterday though, it was a beautiful mild sunny sunny day.

After lunch we watched Sister Act which I hadn’t seen before. It was hilarious. Andrea told us how she had thought of becoming a nun when she was 16. Chris said he was glad she hadn’t.

It’s so good to see my son so happy with his new wife. I always wished he could find the right one, and it has taken him a long time and to the other side of the world to find her.
