Winter Solstice 2024 in These Foolish Things

It’s the longest night of the year. Do you know what that means? We are celebrating the daylight getting longer every day from now until the Summer Solstice. Yay!
As a Scorpio with Virgo rising, I’m supposed to thrive in the darkness (according to “the astrology books”), but I don’t feel it. As soon as the sun goes down, all I want to do is sleep. And as I read through all of the horoscopes for what I’m supposed to do, the answer seems to be to nestle in my cocoon…but with others, it seems.
Or maybe just my dog?
Regardless, I am in love with cocooning lately. Tomorrow I will spend the whole day wrapping gifts, making peppermint bark, and getting ready for my visit with my family. And writing stuff down. I am working on some thoughts on end-of-the-year recaps and planning out my 2025. I love this time of year.
I’ll also do a good dog walk, of course, and some other things in the fresh air amongst other human beings (maybe the farmers market?).
I have SO MUCH to write about, but again, it’s dark out and I am fading fast. I gotta go to bed, but as a teaser, here is a list of prompts from to remind myself of all I need to get out of my brain and onto the page. Some are recent events/activities, and some are forward-looking thoughts that I need to solidify:
- Martini’s Golden Gotcha Day!
- Staying at the hotel next door to the “disaster hotel” from 2021
- Pre-Party at Lovely’s
- Chrisie broke her wrist!
- A Tale of Two Holiday Parties
- Holiday gifts - the embarrassing amount of gifts I bought myself!
- Airbnb for Christmas - problems @ the homestead
- Vintage/Thrift Shopping
- New 75 Hard variation? Wheat Free and Sugar Free
- Volunteering in 2025
So off to wash my face and snuggle into my fluffy cocoon of a bed.
Happy Solstice!
