When I saw my doc on the 6th and told her how I’ve been feeling, she looked surprised, almost shocked. Not wanting to die and not thinking about other people dying constantly has entirely changed my capacity for my life.
Which means I’ve been planning and dreaming and creating my head off. I’ve also been spending A LOT of money on not small ticket items. I’ve been continuing to piece together my Sith costume (it’s coming together! There are so many pieces! I bought a dress form just to have it on display all the time like M’s scout trooper mannequin, Rick)!
I need a name for this character. I’m going to get dressed up and try to figure it out while in costume.
So I’m doing a bunch of arty things.
A while back I started a clay relief of our house. It’s terrible, but M is really encouraging, and I’m trying to see it through despite my reservations.
On Friday I started a painting of Mom’s back yard after a snow storm. It’s very blue. But it has this incredible moody sky that goes from grey-black to blue-grey to yellow and pink. And it’s framed by two skeletal leafless trees, with some cedar and pines thrown in for good measure.
While searching parts for my costume I was looking for a sith-type mask. There’s no real convention (especially not with Qimir’s mask from the Acolyte thrown in to the mix), so I was going entirely by feel. I found one, but it appealed to my inner magpie and that doesn’t always steer me in the right direction. I asked M and he thought it was badass. I’ve shown Bird Guy and The Odd Lady and they both approve. It’s a half mask from nose down, the whole thing is covered in small rhinestones, and the teeth are inverted tear drops. But it’s so… mass produced, and while I’m definitely not making it for less money, DIYing it means it is a custom fit to my face.
And lastly, last Wednesday I planned a networking meet up for some people on that leadership class I was taking. Well, I got stood up. But I was at a ceramic painting place, so I put in headphones (I was paranoid that no one would show, so I prepared for it) and just focused on painting a modern christmas tree with a funky palette. Since I had to bring it home (they don’t store unfinished pieces) I decided to take it upon myself to drill holes to accommodate little ornament lights, like the old fashioned ceramic trees. I even managed to drill down the top of the tree, and I have a big white star waiting for it to be done.
So of the 4 projects I worked on this weekend, I finished the home-component of one of them. I don’t know when I’ll get back to teh studio to finish painting, though.
This is already much later than I wanted to be up. Next time I’ll tell you about the plans I have for my bedroom :D
These meds legit changed my life.
