Today the Holidays feel like they are about to take over the rest of my days until the end of the year…because they ARE! And I guess that’s just fine. I’m going to embrace it.
Nobody’s head is in the game at work even though my company has hired this fractional COO to take us through the Holidays and into the new year.
I really need to step on the job hunt pedal, but I think we’re at that point of the year when everyone’s mind is on holiday travel, food, merriment, and family.
So tomorrow I will hopefully finish with work for the week, straighten up the decor, then Thursday I’ll drive to the fam’s, and then Friday I’ll hopefully get a little Black Friday shopping in and then meet up with the diary researchers later that evening!
I don’t yet know exactly what to tell you about The Diary Researchers, except that these are two researchers from a university in Switzerland who are following certain online diarists who’ve been journaling for at least 20 years. They found me on Prosebox a few years ago (when I was public…and I’m thinking about going back to public - I haven’t decided yet) and reached out to see if it would be okay to study my entries to understand how I’ve navigated life through all of my personal traumas as well as societal events in general.
At first, I didn’t know if it was legit, but I did a little back-and-forth communicating and then a little online poking around and even ghosted them for a while (not on purpose, but it was more when I was dealing with the craziness of The Cutie Pie Company, ugh). Finally, they sent me a bunch more information about the work they are doing, and we got together for a video conversation and they interviewed me. And I talked about the diary and the fact that I’ve met so many of YOU in real life and how it has steered my whole, entire life for over twenty years!
And one thing led to another via email communications, and they asked if they could come interview me a few times in my natural habitat (ha!) in person!
So now we are approaching the weekend that we’ll spend doing some of the things that I do during my weekends - my walks, the farmers market, and some other general things and they’ll get to see how I live.
Diary meets Real Life once again!
So. Lots going on as we head into the home stretch of 2024!
I gotta go now. I have to get up earlier than my normal early morning so I can get my routine done AND take Martini to the vet to get her vaccines updated and maybe sneak to the Trader Joes to see if I can find some goodies before coming back here and working a fuuuullll day tomorrow.
G’nite and see you tomorrow!
