Remember my flower brooch Pinterest Fail?
Well, I got a lot of suggestions on what to do with that disaster (namely, start all over again!), but someone asked if maybe I could somehow take a bunch of the petals out so it wouldn’t be so fluffy, and I got to thinking - maybe I could try! I mean, there’s a lot of hot glue all up in that thing, but what could it hurt trying if the other option was throw the damn thing away?
So I hopped up out of bed. Yes, I literally decided to do this first thing this morning!
And I started figuring out where I needed to pull this animal apart. Pretty much right in the middle because there’d be enough fluffiness and I could even pull more out if needed.
Bottom line, after pulling the flower apart and shifting and moving the stuffing around and putting the backing back on, she’s good to go!
I even put the outfit on that I’m going to wear and tested it out. It works! It looks amazing!
I tried to put my outfit on my dress form so I could take another pic and show you. But I’m smaller-framed than the form…even though that form was custom-made for my exact measurements (I made it for a fashion draping class in college - we had to make shells for our dress forms to our own measurements so that we could actually drape designs to fit on our own bodies. But the dress form itself was thicker and more barrel-chested than I am built, so it’s always been a little clunky for making my own designs), I couldn’t get the top to fit right on the form so I could snap a pic and post.
Tell you what, I’ll post a pic or two of myself wearing it on the day of the party, ok?
I also tried to get my decorating done, including turning my dress form into the “Christmas Tree Dress” that some of you remember, know and love (ha!)…and that was another fail. I ended up getting the greenery skirt on the form, fluffed and ready for the next step: the lights.
And when I got the lights out, only 25% of them worked! Ughhh.
So I ended up having to run to Walmart to get some more lights and some other things I needed, and by the time I was back and put everything away, it was time for me to write this entry and now…get ready for BED so I can start the week fresh.
Regardless, I’m pleased with the brooch and have a LOT of work to do to finish decorating this place. I’m NOT looking forward to work tomorrow, but I will do my best to fly through all the stuff I need to get done and not slack like I’ve been doing for quite some time.
Good luck to me!
