Rest in peace, dad in Vulnerability

Dad passed tonight at 9:27pm.

It seemed very peaceful.  His breathing just slowed and eventually he took his last breath.  We all told him we loved him and that it was okay to let go, and I said to say hi to Ma (his mum) and Ross (his brother) for us.

My little brother was the only child absent, as it was too hard for him to get down from Mt Isa.  He got to say his final goodbyes back in August.  We were lucky to get this extra time with him.

It took around an hour for the funeral crew to get to Pittsworth from Toowoomba.  That hour was tough. We were numb and a mess.  I had to focus on my breathing techniques quite a few times.  Mum and myself were the most emotional.  My poor mother had been with my dad since she was 16, I think I mentioned.  So 55 years of marriage.  He's all she's known for so long.

The nurses played "Amazing Grace" over one of their phones while dad was wheeled out.  Us kids supported Mum on the walk.  Mum yelled out, "Wait!" as he was being put in, and gave him a final kiss goodbye.

Rest in peace, dad 💞
