If you have any vanities, what are they?
I have a lot of vanities. One of them is, being what is politely called a “hirsute woman” (aka BEARDED LADY), I shave every day before I leave my house. Of course, part of that is a safety issue, too: I have absolutely no doubt that in the coming years, if I were to leave my house with an unshaven face, I’d be at least accused of being trans (as if being trans is a bad thing; seriously, TERFs, go look at porn sites before Project 2025 takes them down. I’m tired of having this argument with you, just because you’re too uptight/”pure” to rub one out!), and at worst, physically attacked or killed. Which is hilarious, because I’m pretty obviously female, apart from the beard. Besides which, a lot of cis women have facial hair. It ain’t a new phenomenon, and before a bunch of TERFs who should actually devote their time to swallowing lumps of coal and shitting out diamonds in record time started barfing their obsession all over the internet, it was kind of expected that women would start getting facial hair as they got older.
Conditions that can cause facial hair in women: PCOS. Menopause. Cushing’s syndrome. Ovarian cancers. Congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Having high testosterone levels, which can occur for any reason, or none at all. (Source.)
…Ya’know, TERFs like to claim that they’re “making the world safer for women,” without thinking of which women they’re making the world safer for. Not women like me, who, for reasons quite literally unknown, have facial hair.¹ Not women who aren’t traditionally feminine. Not butch lesbians. Not femme lesbians, for that matter. Not ace or bi women. Not “ugly” women. Not cishet women who support trans women and trans rights. Not Muslim women, especially those who choose to wear hijabs or burqas or niqabs. Not indigenous women, who are sexually assaulted and murdered at higher rates than white women. Not Black women, as the election just proved. And certainly not women who don’t agree with them. (Also, TERFs want men to protect women… From men. Who have proven, time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time again, that we have no reason to expect them to protect us. TERFS: “This is why women choose the bear!” Also TERFs: “Men, pwease save us from men!” Make it make sense!)
You can’t “make the world safer for women” without making it safe for all women, especially the ones you don’t want to worry your (not actually that) pretty head about.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll keep saying it until, by some miracle, it finally crashes through the incredibly thick skull of at least one TERF: If your entire criteria for “transvestigating” someone is that they’re not your definition of a 10, you’re going to end up assuming that 90% of all people are trans! It’s like Dead Internet Theory, but stupider and with less evidence.
¹I’ve had test after test after test done to find out, and all of them come back with “iunno” as the official diagnosis. I don’t have PCOS, CAH, Cushing’s, or ovarian cancer. I’m not going through menopause or even perimenopause. I’ve never used anabolic steroids. I don’t even have higher testosterone levels than most cis women. It’s literally just, “You have a beard, and you were born a century to late to be in a freak show.”
