I am a mosaic, of everyone I’ve ever loved, of everyone’s who’s left an impression on me.
I am the smile that Suuf left me with. She practically planted her smile on me and told me it looked good on me. She didn’t let me steal it.
I am the kindness Hatty taught me, uncommonly kind she was, uncompromising in her compassion.
I am the rudeness of my past; I am the thunder of my hate.
I am a combination, an anthology of knowledge collected and applied. I am in a part you, you whoever has left lasting impact and taught me a valuable skill / emotion and lesson.
I cook noodles the way I saw a café runner in Singapore.
I listen to music curated from the taste of countless people in my life, a song here, a band there, recommendations and recollections. Happy times and sorrow.
I discovered to appreciate familiar music in foreign unknown places.
I make excellent coffee, after having watched countless hours of James Hoffman and replicating his exquisite mastery of coffee making craft.
I write, the way I have read, and dread, that I will never be as good as those authors. But in small parts, in little pieces, I am happy with what I can achieve with words.
