This is the time of the year with the awesome temperature swings. By mid-afternoon with the temps in the mid-fifties outside the van, sitting in the sun will warm up the van to above eighty degrees. I open up a couple of windows to let a slight breeze blow through. So nice.
And after weeks of nights between say 45 and 55 degrees and sleeping in nothing but my sweat pants in my summer sleeping bag, last night was the first night this Fall below freezing. I added another blanket making it three on the sleeping bag, my wool socks, and my stocking cap and T-shirt and hoodie. It was 35 degrees last night at midnight. This morning when I got up to use the pee bottle in the dark it was below freezing. I slept really well.
By the time I got up at 10:30 it was already 51 degrees in the van. And once again, by noon, it was 82 degrees. Really nice.
I finished reading “How America Was Lost” by Paul Craig Roberts. Enlightening. To say the least.
Last week Jassy and I bought some grass fed beef at the farmer’s market. We bought eight pounds of ground beef at $5.99 a pound. The first pound we fried up we drained about a tablespoon of grease off it. And it tasted so good! The store bought crap at $3.99 a pound is 27% fat. We’re not buying anymore from the grocery store. Ever.
We’re still planning on buying some bison meat.
The same beef farmer also has pork. We’re thinking pork chops and maybe a pork roast.
My desk. The desk I had for twenty years. The desk that sat in one spot in the apartment dining room for nine years. The desk I took out of storage and gave to Jassy’s mom. That desk is on it’s way to Jassy’s apartment. She brought the drawers to it home from her mother’s today. She’s pretty excited to have the thing. She’s always wanted it. Now she has it.
My phone card ran out a couple of days ago. Mom called Jassy today and said that she’s sending me another one. I think it’s a waste of $30. The last one expired with over 1000 of the 1500 minutes of talk time left on it. And I hardly used any of the unlimited texts. I did get to talk to Deb a couple of times though. I remember when we talked most every day. I also remember using 3000 text messages a month too. Oh well, maybe that’s all my fault. Or maybe everybody just got tired of me. Who knows?
Anyway, my routine continues. Coffee in the morning with Jassy. Reading during the day. Or maybe a long walk. Dinner in the evening. Doing the dishes when they need doing. Going to spend the evenings at Hardee’s. And going to bed at midnight and sleeping until I want to get up. At least I’m walking several miles or more every day.
I really don’t see any need or feel any want for anything else.
