I live in a manufactured home park. Also known as a mobile home park. I’ve lived here since 1988. I don’t like to move. I like my little house two bedroom one of which I use as a storage and workshop. I was one of the first people to move into this part of the park when it was new. I recall it as a big open space with clay soil with sod tossed on it quite a barren place at first. It’s funny to me how long I’ve lived here and how many people have come and gone around me when I look out across the street there is an empty house at what would be 7 o’clock on a clock position. The people that live there moved out last weekend and I am waiting eagerly to see who bought the house.unusual for me, I never talked to the people that live there for maybe three years. Young folks rather odd I thought I’ve become that way with neighbors in which I am very private these days. It’s almost spooky to see people move in and out, and I stay here and watch the coming and going of people. To my right side, currently a family of Hispanics that are nice, but they have problems with clutter. Before then, a woman that seemed to be eternally old lived there. She had a husband when she moved in and he was a chainsmoker that eventually died of heart problems. She was about my mom‘s age kind of motherly. I guess I would make things for her and her daughter thought I was having some kind of fling with her which brings up the gag reflex. That was when I was very open and friendly with my neighbors. To my left side, the first people that moved in was an older couple, and the man was a chainsmoker that eventually died from it. Two of his children took over the house one of whom was a man I got a job for, but somehow he lost it. I can’t remember fired or let go whatever but he was an alcoholic like his father, but he was a bad one obnoxious. Eventually, he took over the house with his nephew, who was on disability had a criminal record and eventually was busted for selling drugs. That was a good thing his eviction because the next people that moved in were very nice and quiet. The drug dude was very loud all the time. Third person that moved into it was a middle-aged divorced I think woman of color who was very nice but now she does not live there and I see a light on every night but I’ve never seen anybody living there now it’s a bit creepy but as long as the house is quiet, I’m fine with it. Back to the empty house that had two tenants. The second one was a monster. A big woman who smoked much and was very loud because of large wind chimes on her porch. After I complained about the noise, she gave me some shit about. I should just get used to it and I never talk to her after that. I noticed she had declining health and one night. I saw an ambulance pull up and a stretcher came out with the body covered. I think she died in the house and somebody did a welfare check on it and discovered her dead. Very curious about who the new will be. I joke with people that I’ve become the designated Snoopy old man for this area. I think in the future, I will offer to have people have their packages delivered to my house so they don’t get stolen. Since I’m here all the time. Just an idea. I recall seeing a movie a few years ago titled GHOST. A man died in a house and his wife moved out and his ghost stayed there watching people come and go into the house one owner after another. It was to me a very strange but deeply touching film. At times I feel like a ghost watching the world go by.
