For a Little While

I woke up late – I mean really late for me. At some point over night we lost power just long enough to reset all the electronics – including my alarm clock.

I have blackout curtains and blackout blind – fallout from my summer working overnight at Wally World when I turned into a freaking vampire. It is pitch black in my bedroom. The LED in the smoke detector is blinding,

I woke up staring at the alarm clock blinking at me.

Oh. What the fuck.

My watch was in the bathroom, as are my glasses.

  1. I was planning to be at work at 0600. So much for that plan.

It is a point of pride in Naval Aviation that we are always where we are supposed to be when we’re supposed to be there.

Command decision and I just clocked in from home and sent the boss a skype message telling her I would be working from home.

I feel like crap and I have my next to last chemo infusion on Friday.

On a positive front – two weeks until I head for Texas – still in the 90s down there. Looking forward to seeing the kid and my grandson, having some BBQ and maybe one of those huge steaks. Schitterbahn looks like you could spend a week there.
Breaking news: since it takes me so long to write these entries, it has now been two weeks since I started writing this entry.

I talked to my son this weekend. Looks like the Schlitterbahn is closed for the season. Still lots of stuff to do in 5 days. Now we are going zip-lining and maybe going to 6 Flags.

Of course on the work front, I’m fixing to get busy. They’ve reprioritized work and my particular bailiwick is taking the back burner lately. But I bothered my close enough that they’re going to break the logjam so all of this work doesn’t show up the day before I go on vacation!

Friday is going to be a bit of a challenge. My flight leaves the jet port at 6:00 in the morning. That means i need to be up by 2:30. Get through the shower last minute packing 45 minutes to the jetport then the challenge of finding some place to park. I’ve given myself an hour so if I can’t park on site I’ll go to one of the satellite parking areas. But i’m really hoping i get into the parking garage.

The problem with Portland is that there isn’t nearly enough parking for the amount of air traffic that comes and goes out of that airport. The jetport grew up too fast.

I’ve got a pretty good itinerary. I leave out of Portland at 6:00, then 50-minute layover in Newark, to arrive in San Antonio at 11:40. Coming back it’s a noon flight out of San Antonio, a one hour layover in Reagan national, to arrive home at 8:30. And I’ve got the next day off to recover from the flight. And then i work from home on Friday. I think i timed everything well.

Tonight I need to empty my refrigerator, because somehow or another every time i leave my refrigerator closed for a week everything inside of it rots. So I’m not taking the chance this time. I’m just throwing everything away. Which means I have to go to restaurants for supper every night. Expensive. Torture me.

This should be fun. I haven’t seen my son or my grandson in five years. My grandson is 15 years old now. Seems like yesterday I was holding him and realized he needed his diaper changed and since I don’t do that anymore I called out to his parents.

My diaper changing days are officially over.
