Magnesium Oil Spray in These Foolish Things

I went to a new (to me) Farmers Market with my friend, Diane yesterday in the morning. We’ve been going to farmers markets together weekly for the past three weeks. We decided to go to this one because our “lettuce guy” told us at the last market that he’d have his special aeroponic-grown strawberries at this market. He’d been promising us! So we went…and he disappointed us! This was the third week in a row he’s promised strawberries and hasn’t delivered the goods.
It was a bummer, yes, but there were other treasures to buy.
Diane has turned me on to this kombucha that this certain vendor has on tap! Now, I’ve never, ever been a kombucha girl, but she swears by this stuff, so I had to try a sample last week at the other farmers market, and daaaaammmnnn it was delicious! I bought two small 20ish oz bottles to take home and mix with my bubbly water as a sort of “kombucha kocktail”, if you will.
I’ve since done a little studying up on kombucha and realized that theres a teeny bit of alcohol in it, and since I’ve totally given up alcohol for health reasons, I got worried. And in fact, maybe got a little psychosomatic about it - like, I could feel the alcohol when it went down to my belly - you KNOW that feeling that alcohol produces at first sip?? THAT’S what I was feeling!
So, not only did I ask a cancer nutritionist (who told me that the studies on the health benefits of kombucha are not conclusive), but then I asked the kombucha guy in the booth, who told me that he is 6 years sober and he feels that the trace alcohol in kombucha is not nearly enough to be to be considered an alcoholic beverage. He also said that kombucha naturally has caffeine and other live active ingredients in it too, so the tiny “belly buzz” that I feel might be one of those things?
So I refilled my bottles that I’d washed and brought back and I got some more. Gah, it’s SO damn yummy!! I do a 1:1 ratio of kombucha to bubbly water and it’s soooooo bubbly delicious…but I’m still sort of thinking that I need to do more research…hmmm.
And then, we got to the sourdough section of the market! It seemed like a full 25-30% of this market is dedicated to everything sourdough! So of course, I felt the need to buy a loaf of whole wheat sourdough since I love to keep a good loaf in the freezer and stick a slice in my air fryer for a fantastic toast and egg breakfast a couple of times a week. Without even asking the price, I selected a perfect big ball of sliced sourdough and said I’d take it, so the lady got it all bagged up for me and then said, “that will be eighteen dollars, please.”
Cough!
Of course, I couldn’t act all shocked at the end of the sale, so I shoved my iphone over to the freaking card reader, closed my eyes, and let the “beep” happen. But shit. I bought a goddamned EIGHTEEN DOLLAR loaf of sourdough bread.
I’m sorry. Call me a cheapskate, but this bread better get me close to orgasm with every bite for that price. What the hell?
So then we came across a booth that really intrigued me. A guy was selling these pretty blue bottles of one thing and one thing only - magnesium oil spray.
Now. I know the benefits of topically applying magnesium since I started doing magnesium foot soaks. They absolutely help me sleep. Every single time I’ve done my special foot soak using magnesium flakes, I’ve had extremely restorative sleep. But the baths are sometimes a cumbersome undertaking when I’m tired and I just want to go to bed. I figure if I can get the same benefits just by spraying some of this oil on the bottom of my feet, then it might be something that I do more of. I can add it to my nightly routine every evening!
So I bought a bottle of this stuff.
And last night I sprayed the bottoms of my feet and rubbed the excess up along my legs (I sometimes get bad cramps in my legs during sleep), and do you know what?
BEST SLEEP EVER!! According to my fitbit, almost eight hours (which is a lot for me), with nearly two full hours of R.E.M. sleep!! And my dreams were VIVID! And complex and sexy!!
The last dream I had was so wild I had to write it down. The gist of it was, I had a new boss and we were traveling together to London for a bunch of important meetings. But on the day of the flight, I was at a girls brunch and wasn’t already all packed - but for some reason had an empty suitcase with me. And then before I was able to rush home to pack and then get to the airport, I ran into a guy who used to try to seduce me all the time (in real life, this guy really did!), and I let him! We messed around until I was so late for the flight that I decided I’d just fly over the pond with an empty suitcase and just do a bunch of shopping in London (and I LOVE shopping for fashion in London in real life too!). But the Uber driver was running late and I kept letting this seducer guy make out with me over and over - I just kept melting into his arms, even though I was completely stressed out by the fact that I might miss my flight! By the time I finally got to the airport and to my gate, I ran into a former co-worker who wanted to show me this cool art exhibit on the other side of the airport, and I went with her to explore. It was so interesting that I lost track of time and then realized I was at THE WRONG TERMINAL! At that point I was so stressed out that I actually woke myself up!
Haha! That dream really did jolt me awake, so I just decided to get up and write it down.
Anyway, I love that magnesium oil spray. The instructions say you can use it twice a day, and I’m going to rub it all over after I shower this morning and see how today goes.
I will be seeing Johnny Mathis today (see previous RAD entry!). We are going to for a walk & talk at my park later this morning! And then for coffee/brunch. I can’t wait!
Happy Sunday, y’all!
xo,
GS

Oh, you’ve fallen in love with kombucha. Sadly, I have an allergy to alcohol… It sounds like you have a lot of discoveries at the market.

I use magnesium oil on my youngest every night. I put it on her back and the bottoms of her feet. She no longer wants her melatonin. It's amazing stuff.

Nothing worse than a cramp when you are sleeping. Not only are they annoying but they hurt like hell

You are SO right!!

$18 for a loaf of bread does seem a bit steep!!
I take magnesium supplements to help me sleep but I'm not 100% convinced that they actually do anything!
