RAD: Johnny Mathis in These Foolish Things

We Did: Met for Happy Hour at a fun little bar that has lots of games you can play - like bowling or darts or cornhole or a giant connect 4 OR (and I was so curious about this) a giant Scrabble game! I’ve walked past the place many times but had never gone in before. I’m glad he invited me there because it was fun to see the inside! I had a yummy mocktail. He had a Paloma rimmed with Tajin.

He Looked: He’s a little shorter than I really like, but he is handsome in a slightly nerdy kinda way. He has graying ashy blond hair, very clean cut (retired Army) and a super nice smile. He was wearing nice jeans, a great plaid woven shirt, and I don’t remember the shoes or notice any other characteristics. OH, glasses! Very nice looking!

I Looked: Black wrap dress with bubble hem. Pretty much the yoozh first date kinda look. Cute, I guess! My hair was down and straight. Yeah. The yoozh.

Convo: We hit all the main non-political, non-religious stuff. Our upbringing, his kids, my lack of kids, his divorce (he didn’t give me much detail, nor did he ask about any of my previous relationships), our dogs. He touched my arm a few times. I was afraid to touch him! I need to get over that shit!

High Point: I got the hint of some chemistry!!

Low Point: I dunno. I felt one semi-awkward millisecond of silence. I think we were both a tiny bit nervous.

How It Ended: I had a hard stop because I had to pick up Martini at doggy daycare. The fun thing was, as I was telling him about the daycare, he asked me if my daycare happened to be [Name of Martini’s Daycare] and I said YES! And I told him that Martini loves it there! He told me that his daughter has a dog named Bourbon and he goes there too! So after he walked me to my car and I introduced him to Chloe Cardashian (my car’s name), he pointed over in the distance to Slater, his SUV of some model (I can’t remember!), and after he gave me a quick little hug and a peck that barely missed my lips (ha!), I drove to the daycare and asked if a dog named Bourbon comes to visit and the staff was like, YEAH!! We love Bourbon!! So I sent Johnny Mathis a text, telling him that I told the staff at doggy daycare that I know Bourbon’s grandfather!

Chances Are: 100%. I’m seeing him again on Sunday!

Date Rating: B+ (didn’t get an A because it was so quick and very vanilla, but we have plenty of opportunity to make up for that!)
