Is this legal? Not hired due to my sex in Life of a cat mom

I was offered a job cleaning but due to my sex the interview was cancelled. I got dressed got ready for the interview to be informed sorry they are looking for a male cleaner because they are looking for someone to clean a male bathhouse. They said me being a female is risk to their company and they are sorry..I never thought my sex would stop me from getting a job.
