Ailing Beauty in anticlimatic

I am obsessed with this group.
I think it’s just a college choir, but it’s the only one like this that I know of. We get on average one “music video” a year, and although I’ve seen albums advertised I’m not sure it would work without the visual aid to go with it. It might. I may find out.
I have an immortal fondness for the coastal and northern European nations. From France on up, I’ve never had much interest in Spain or the Mediterranean. My people are a pale white people with an appreciation for the simple things and an inner peasant at the core. Home sweet Hobbiton home, where the fishing is good and the gardening is better.
The blonde to the left in this video is in quite a few, and I almost can’t stand how beautiful she is. She’s like staring at the sun. All of the students in these videos are beautiful, both in talent, taste, appearance and poise. It’s rare to see these days. Art seldom strives for beauty like it did. Though art I suppose doesn’t have inherent constraints on desire. Art does what it pleases, and many times it wants the opposite of something beautiful.
Something else, religious perhaps, tied to pursuit of beautiful endeavors. The urge to be The Best, or just do The Best, or work to be The Best one can be- as an imperative. To God, maybe. Or one’s self.
Is that instinct dulled, today? Have we lost cause for competition? Is merit obsolete?
