Been a minute... in General

It’s been a minute since I wrote here.
Been a long year. I started chemo almost a year ago and have 2 more infusions. I am looking forward to not feeling like shit 50% of the time.
Had 2 melanomas removed and so far, no more have arrived. So, I guess I can claim the title of “cancer survivor” for whatever that is worth.
Settling into the job, and I really can’t describe the job. If anyone asks what I do I say, “Senior Planner.” But that doesn’t describe the three-dimensional chess we play every day running everything through a dozen databases then sending the results out for discipline signoffs the getting elbows deep in the tar baby that is Open Plan Professional.
I am technically allowed to work from home (WFH) twice a week – but I only WFH Wednesday after lunch and Friday. Once the snow flies, I’ll drop Wednesday and hold the second day in reserve for snow days.
Working from home on snow days isn’t as fun as just snow days – but I don’t get that much PTO.
Oddly the draftsman union works from home every Thursday and Friday – good because Thursday the parking lot is mostly empty.
In 3 weeks I will be jumping on a great big ol’ airliner and fly to San Antonio (through Newark) for a week visiting with mancub and grandcub.
Today it is 95F in San Antonio – they live in New Braunfels.
Tentative plan includes visiting Schlitterbahn Waterpark – which looks like the biggest freaking waterpark in the world! I’d be lying if said I wasn’t a bit excited. Apparently Grandcub loves the waterpark – so he is part fish!
Trying to balance the PTO burndown while fitting in to my grandson’s school schedule I am unfortunately going to miss his football game on Thursday.
Since I am technically working – I should go check JIRA and OPP and email and zone lockout and skype to see if anything is breaking loose.
Thee more hours left in the week!

What a coincidence! I have a friend from 40 years ago who lives in San Antonio but summers in Tennessee, so I'll miss him this trip (Texas summer apparently runs to Thanksgiving)
