Texture and Shape in Puddle Town in Everyday Ramblings

There was a break in the endless ongoing rain yesterday evening and the light was gorgeous, like dream light for a photographer where every picture comes out well. As you all know by now I am most interested in color and texture and shape, not so much representative shots. It is one of the reasons I don’t take people pictures. This picture made me very happy.

I had an unusually out and about weekend for me. Farmers Market, Weight Watchers, (long walk there along the river) and the Pictionary dinner party across town in a neighborhood I am quite unfamiliar with on public transportation. Then Sunday; church and Kes and Most Honorable stopped by for an hour or so. I haven’t seen them in person in weeks. Then out with the camera.

I think I would say that Pictionary was fun… The dinner beforehand was just lovely. Two of the people there eat an anti-inflammatory Paleo diet, one a gluten free diet, one no beef and I’m omnivorous but on Weight Watchers and allergic to onions. Of the six of us, there was one person who eats a traditional American diet. so everybody had to bring their own things and they were all yummy. We spent a great deal of dinner talking about how to cut up winter squash and other assorted fall vegetable lore.

Five of the six of us are published poets in all sorts of styles. You would think that would give us an edge in the game but most of us had never played before or it had been many years and so we were learning by doing. I did better than I expected in the guessing part but have a lot to learn in terms of strategy.

Like how not to draw a snowman on an All Play so the other team gets it first and wins…

One of us pulled Yugoslavia to draw and she just couldn’t think of anything to draw… For those of us that had never played before the idea of breaking the word into component parts was new and needs work. :) I had the same problem with pipeline.

But yeah, I’d do it again.

I did have a major social anxiety hangover afterwards as I am unused to being in groups anymore and I don’t know any of these folks very well. This was good practice.

There was a very difficult and frustrating incident at work on Friday and so far no apparent lasting ramifications but I got angry, which is never a good thing to do at work.

The good news is that I caught the reactivity about half way into it and passed it off to my take no prisoner’s boss. So it wasn’t a total disaster, but still anxiety producing. The individual involved is the narcissist I keep hinting about here. Things are so much better than they used to be at my job I get brought up short when something like this happens now.

On the kitten front, Kes and Most Honorable thoughtfully brought my fancy soft-sided cat carrier back. We are all going to the Oregon Coast this next weekend so when I get back I will start kitten proofing things around here and filling out applications. We have a shelter, adoption center here in town that makes small dogs and cats available from rural areas of Oregon to our city population. They have a wide assortment of lovable cats that need homes.

So much to look forward to!

Very nice.
