Friday eh. in These Foolish Things

It’s Friday afternoon already!

Yesterday I worked remotely downtown because I wanted to go to L. Crush’s place for craft night and downtown was on the way there. I sort of half-assed my work in the afternoon, then took a walk on the downtown city trail at around 4:30 until about 5:30 and then went to L. Crush’s place.

There were five of us crafting, but I didn’t stay long because I had to pick up Martini at her doggie daycare by 8, and we didn’t really start crafting until 6:45, so not long at all! It was L.Crush, 3 trans friends (two with they/them pronouns and one she/her…I still don’t get this right), and me. L.Crush’s wife was behind the scenes for some reason.

I’m making pom poms for Christmas decor. I want to get a new Scandinavian style tree and decorate it minimally with a pom pom garland kind of like this, and then I also want to do some other decor, like maybe a pom pom wreath like this. So I need to make about a thousand of these pom poms, and I only got four done while I was there!

I rushed to get to daycare before it closed, and by the time I got home, did a little walk with the dog and got settled in, it was well after 9pm and Kamala Harris was about to accept the presidential nomination, and WOW! What an epic speech she gave! I’m not going to get political, but we are witnessing history here, and ughhhhh…she just HAS TO WIN!!

I was so hyped up after the speech, I decided to make myself a smoothie and ended up kind of midnight snacking, which I never do anymore, and it seemed to keep me awake. I did my nightly routine super slowly and didn’t crawl into bed until around 11:30. So freaking late for me!

I decided to shut off my 4:00am alarm (duh) and let myself sleep until 6:30.

It’s been a mighty slow day today.

Didn’t walk the dog until about 7:45, putting me back at home at around 9am (I was doing my emails on my phone), and then had some maintenance things going on in my apartment and yada, yada. Didn’t do my workout until 11am!! Then I had to get ready for a Zoom with a guy I met at a networking event - I guess to see if we might be compatible for me to do some consulting with him. I might have a side gig/project coming up, so cool.

All that to say, I’m trying to catch up for a Friday, but MAN, it’s so quiet in this office (my remote office…two people are not working today and the CEO is very quiet). I’m quietly following up on the trade show stuff from last week, but I haven’t heard a peep from anyone for hours!

Yawn.

The weekend is nigh.
