Getting It Together in These Foolish Things

Wow! You all have come up with some great questions regarding the research study I wrote about yesterday! Yes, it’s super interesting, and I know it’s ongoing and thought I don’t know everything, here are a few things that I DO know right now:

  • The study is ongoing, there are 40 diaries being read, and there are only a few researchers on this project (2 main researchers and 2 more assisting, I think?), so it’s a LOT for them to read. Millions and millions of words we have been barfing out over the years!

  • The team is currently researching at Universities in Europe and the UK, and they have actually visited a few diarists in person! I had a Zoom meeting yesterday, which is almost as good as being in person because it makes it more real.

  • There are opportunities to be involved in multiple studies (for example, I mentioned loving my daily walks in nature and how they have helped me heal from some of my trauma, so that could potentially be a part of a research paper, maybe?)

  • I don’t want to speak out of turn because I don’t know all of the details - they have left it open for me to ask questions, so as they come up I will!

  • I’ve asked to read anything where my diary in particular has been used in the research

So more to come!

In the meantime, I’ll just keep writing as normal. What even is normal? Who knows? But I’m just going to do what I’ve been doing.

Today I’m working-ish. Ha! I told myself that it was going to be an easier day today. Yesterday sucked. We’re trying to get all of our ducks in a row for next week’s trade show in Vegas. While Head Cat is normally scattered, it’s going to be an exceptionally scattered show because he’s working new deals with two separate companies that feel they are competitors and he’s supposed to do personal appearances at each of their booths (plus a 3rd totally separate one that does not compete at all) and meet-and-greet and such and guess who gets to now be his personal handler? Yep.

So apparently, Kitty Cat (CEO) and Head Cat (the celebrity and founder) are still working through the contracts…and they may not be all buttoned up until Monday. That’s the day before we leave for the show.

Every week I make a post on Instagram called “Monday Morning Shower Coffee”. I have a little letterboard sign places in my shower. I put together very short sayings and I bring my coffee into the shower with me and I snap a little pic to post. It’s my little spin on the “shower beer” that used to be a thing that people would post after cutting the grass or going running or whatever - they’d post themselves drinking a beer in the shower.

ANYWAY, this week’s saying was, “Expect Problems and Eat Them for Breakfast”.

Yep. Mercury is also in retrograde, so imagine how difficult getting the extremely nit-picky Head Cat to sign a contract at this time is? I don’t envy Kitty Cat at all!

Ooops. She’s now calling me. One sec.

Back. Head Cat wants to schedule a breakfast/brunch meeting before walking the show. Looks like I will have the opportunity to be his handler now for two days instead of one. And yes, he did have an executive assistant, but they fired her, remember? And now they’ve hired a consultant who’s not going to the show, so again, I get to lead the guy around.

I made the whole itinerary. I think I deserve to start my weekend now, ha!

So today I’m prepping for Martini’s birthday party tomorrow. I need to get all of the snacky stuff and I’m making my famous popcorn treats tonight as well as dog treats. I honestly don’t expect a lot of people to show, but it will be fun prepping for my little girl’s big day! 10 years with my sweet Martini!!!

I need to get going and get my late, late, LATE workout in. It’s a non-negotiable.

Have a good Friday!

That's great that Martini is 10. My Bella is 15 and still going. Nothing better than having a Sr. Dog as my vet calls them.
