Hypothesis in These Foolish Things

Funny thing about WFH is that your office is always here and you can work really anytime. So instead of starting off with my reading and then workout and then work, I actually needed to send some things to a packaging designer I’m working with in Brazil and I needed to communicate with China, so I dug right into work very, very early and got some shit done.
Now I need to get my PB entry in, do my workout and then walk the dog…then shower and get myself presentable in case I have to hop on a Zoom (nothing scheduled today, but you never know). Plus I may make my way out into the world today - I need to pick up a new Rx because my blood pressure meds needed tweaking due to my weight loss. Unfortunately, the doc doesn’t recommend me going off both of the meds due to my vascular issues, but he does agree to lower the dose of one since I get nearly comatose in the afternoons some days.
While we’re talking medicine, I asked you in my last entry if you wanted me to speculate about Maria’s heart issue and you said yes, so I will! This is not gossip - I’d absolutely say this to Maria herself - but it’s something I was thinking about after we got together on Saturday.
You might remember me talking about Maria taking Adderall while we were traveling in Italy a few years ago, and then years later she told me that she was going through a medical detox and it was hard - she was gaining all of this weight and feeling terrible and trying to kick a 20+ year prescription drug habit? I don’t even know what all she’d been taking, but the bottom line is, I think that years and years of taking stimulants and other drugs has probably caught up with her and really messed up her heart! A simple googling pointed me to dozens and dozens of articles talking about how Adderall can really mess with your heart and your vascular system.
Man, the shit we put ourselves through for work, to relieve stress, to hype us up, to relax, etc. etc!! And all of the research I’m doing tells me that we ALL have it within ourselves to naturally do just about anything that drugs and alcohol and other artificial enhancers can do…
I’m not knocking the medical system or the alcohol industry - I’m just saying it’s wild to know that we have access inside our own minds and bodies. This is not necessarily an aha moment - more of a reinforcement of my own acceptance of these things.
The good news is that a pacemaker can absolutely help Maria feel better and get healthy again. I’m so glad they found all of this out before she went into cardiac arrest…or worse! And she’s still got that Crazy Maria inside of her. I even saw it when she got excited over something we were talking about at lunch. It was hilarious because she has her new pacemaker set up to communicate with her Apple watch and it was sending all kinds of beeps and warning messages to her when she got back into her Italian roots with the hand waving and the expressively loud talking! It was kind of hilarious, but also eye-opening.
So there’s my speculation. I’ve turned it into a hypothesis just through observation and the google machine.
Now. Time to get into high gear and make the donuts!
