The Old neighborhood in keeping it postive

Is really my current neighborhood. I live two blocks from where I grew up. I run into some people from teenage-hood, and from childhood, every so often.
I spent about an hour talking with a man I’ve known for about 50 years. He caught me up on some people I’d known decades ago - some good outcomes, some not so good.
His sister, the one I knew the best of the three of them, has a form of dementia. She’s been in a home/hospital upstate. A place where she can be watched, monitored. She’s in a beautiful locale, but it’s far for the family to travel to, and she misses having the city and its convenience. They’re thinking of moving her to a place closer, in New Jersey. I’d love to see her again.
I’m in my 60’s; it’s expected that some people will have gone to jail, to the mental hospital, moved away (Miami, Texas), but it’s still heartbreaking when I hear this terrible news of a woman whom I used to consider a friend.
