My visit was good, Mum was ok witch is good as things go, it was nice spending time with my Sister and Brother-in-law, they love life in Portsmouth. They can walk to work, the seafront is a short walk, while we have the light evenings my Sister will walk there to watch the ships go by, I’m not sure their boys find it so fascinated; their youngest went with her a few years ago. He sat with his Mum for two minutes looking this way and that ‘this is it is it’ still looked about; her only response could be laughing. ‘It’s an age thing …’
I did something new this time, I’ve been vesting Portsmouth since November 2007, this time my Sister said ‘you haven’t been up to the top floor; I can’t recall it the top floor is a forth or fifth – or could it be a sixth!
You can go on the flat roof but you need a key, so we made do with a ride to the top floor and the limited view towards Portsmouth and a little of Southsea; an other age thing ….
Arrived early at the Harbour Railway Station, the last station on the line, after that it gets very wet! I always arrive early, one more age thing! So I always stop to photograph HMS Warrior, the first iron warship, at lest I can claim it as recently been painted and looking at her best.
This is from inside the station, still waiting for my train ….
Up to date, I was in Truro on Saturday, when I walked into Lemon Quay there was a row of children and the odd parent, at the other end a rather huge camouflaged Lorry, a fat-back or transporter with a in-shore speed boat.
The children were taking turns get up into the cab, witch is about five feet of the ground, there were some photographs taken of some happy children sitting on the drivers seat and holding a large steering wheel, the more adventurous found their way to the open hatch in the roof; those solders can move …….
Foot Note.
Between Trains at Westbury, not for dancing …..
