The meals were served at regular irregular times.

Breakfast anywhere from 4 AM - 6 AM
Lunch anywhere from 9 AM - 11 AM
Dinner anywhere from 4 PM till 5:30 PM

Eating like you’re elderly getting the really early bird special sucks.

But wait!
There’s MORE!
We were only fed twice on weekends.
Sat and Sun anywhere from 7 AM - 10 AM and 4 PM - 5:30 PM

You’ll go to bed hungry if you don’t plan accordingly. As Scarlett O’Hara said in Gone With The Wind, “I will never go hungry again.”

Apparently there is a nutritionist on staff who monitors that all meals fall into the 2,000 calorie a day dietary intake but I think that person calls in sick. You’ll get a main dish consisting of a rice, noodle, bean or vegetable mix with a meat*, a corn bread which is basically a piece of corn cake, a side dish of veggies or side salad (that is usually warm and wilted) with dressing .001% of the time and a piece of cake.

Breakfast main dishes are oatmeal, grits (that are so thick and awful it looks like shiny floor laminate if you flip it over), cereal that can crack your teeth and a sweet rice dish on Saturdays. Side of gravy with more corn cake or overcooked boiled eggs and another piece of cake it on the weekends with a mix of peanut butter and syrup.

Sound appetizing, right?

I’ll write about the commissary and the jailhouse creations that was cooked up in the cells with what we could contribute at a later time.

If we had to stay over at work or did a special task a for a guard (more work) we could grab a sack lunch from the kitchen. Four slices of bread, two slices of bologna and cheese with two mustard packets and MAYBE a piece of cake. Those items can survive for days outside of a refrigerator if wrapped properly.

*If the meat was dark it was dog or dog food. White, cat or cat food.
At least to me anyway.
