I really hate picking out a new color for walls.... it is really hard to judge off a little card and the lighting makes the color look different too. This is a large dinning room 20x18 so if I go too light it will make the room look too large and not as cozy. I picked a medium shade…svelte sage. the lighting in the room is kinda poor as the front porch shades the windows.... so I am hoping it makes the color slightly deeper. the room is a chocolate brown and looks much lighter.

against this brown wall it make the green look like a mint color....

and in brighter light it looks closer to the color.... but what color will it look on the wall?????

this kinda captures how brown the walls are.... I put the sample in the den and it looks like that will be the perfect color so I am hoping that is what it will look like....

Now I am second guessing myself and wanting to go back to Lowes and pick about 10 more to compare . not only do they have to look right for the room it needs to compliment my new drapes… they are being made so I only have a sample to compare… They are beige with a brown that has a tint of green in it.

funny thing is the brown walls would look amazing with these drapes but I want a little brighter room. the brown does not reflect light.

When I bought this house 11 years ago this room and the sun room were the only rooms not beige! I have painted every room on the main level but the dinning room so it does need to be painted. I have 15 rooms and a large foyer, and 3 hallways so I have to paint several rooms a year to keep things looking fresh. I want to paint the foyer maybe a soft green too. I am all about soft color. I really hate the sterile white and grey look! So happy the trend is dying off. I love the wood look coming back to the kitchens tooo. Not a fan of painted cabinets I always felt it cheapened the look…but that is my opinion. I am noticing a lot of gold in the kitchens now too… gold knobs and pulls, faucets, light fixtures.... I hate to say it looks good but I am not jumping on the wagon for a while lol

The place I am in looks like it was all done in the 1970's and nothing more has been done. No paint, no new floors and the kitchen is really ugly along with the batroom.

Happy decorating! We bought this house brand new so it still has the off white cheap contractor's paint everywhere. We'll hopefully get around to painting within the next year.
