When we left our place in Spain it was C28 degrees - F80 - and when we got back to the UK it was half that, showery, and it has not improved much this morning. Officially the temperature is above the seasonal average - but we are feeling the cold - sweaters are on!
Everything worked out well - plane on time - good trip - and then fish and chips as our homecoming meal. The problem is we are not sure what time it is - since we have gained an hour on the way back.
So by the time we got to bed we were knackered - only to be woken at 3 am by what I thought was the clock alarm - I sleepily pressed a button and it stopped - then ten minutes later it started up again - and then it was clear it was the smoke alarm - needing a new battery - so I had to climb up and get the old battery out - and disconnect the alarms at the board. Just what you need at 3 am. So after a cup of tea we settled down again - but now I have no idea what the time is, when I should eat - and I have forgotten to buy a new battery! If we have a fire we will be incinerated.
Still, some good news when we got back - I won £25 on the Premium Bonds and £25 on the Lottery.
We are not home for long - next week we go to see the branches of our family as well as going to a lunchtime party for two 80 year olds. You know people are getting old when the parties are at lunchtime - I shall be driving so no drinking!
This is in a great spot in the Lake District - so just hope the weather improves before then.
It is noticeable how volatile the weather is - there were major showers and floods in Spain - and much of northern Italy was inundated with bad floods in Genoa and Tuscany. And what about the major snow storms in Nepal - not expected at this time of year. It looks like the effect of aspects of global warming are being felt.

Those battery low alarms on smoke alarms can be so annoying!!! necessary but annoying all the same!

Sounds like you are very busy! Don't get too wild at that lunchtime party! :p

As I guess you were thinking lunchtime parties are not for wild time - not least because I shall be driving so very little alcohol, if any.
