Sleeping In in The Day To Day Ramblings

I wake up at 5 AM six days of the week, either to get to work by 7 AM or to get to the gym by 6 AM to meet my sister before her work day begins. Today, my friends, was that amazing and sacred '7th day' where I don't have to set an alarm and I wake up when my body is done sleeping.

I woke up at 11:30.

I didn't even know that was possible! I haven't slept this late in a VERY long time. I also know I need to take a little moment to appreciate it as some day, eventually, life with children will make that definitely impossible. Happily traded in, of course, but also definitely impossible.

So I woke up, rolled around awhile, Twittered and Facebooked, petted my snuggly snoring puppy and lived in The Now.

I have a long list of things to do today and places to go and errands to run but for a few precious minutes this morning, I enjoyed a dark room, a fully rested body, a quiet and calm way to wake up and life in the present. Too often I live in Tomorrow or Next Week or bouncing between obligations and requirements that drain me and stress me out. Those things all still wait, responsibility starts the minute my feet hit the floor, but while my eyes are still adjusting to being open and before the dog senses I'm waking up and she bolts for her food bowl....before all that, there is The Now.

Amidst the noise and stimulation and craziness of life, we all need moments like this. We all need a few chances to be Fully Present, whether intentionally or by luck. We refill a tiny battery somewhere deep within us when we are appreciative of the simplest, smallest things that may not be The Big Things or The Life Changing Things but the things that give our day to day lives a little extra boost and add the glitter and sparkle to our full, colorful existence. I hope all of you have a chance for just a few minutes of "Yes, this is good. These moments are good. This life is good." coming your way soon.

Happy Tuesday!
