you can’t tell the moon
from the street-lights
in the north countries
up here at the edge of anywhere
up here on a frozen winter’s eve
not with those fogged eyeglasses
not with that cheap phone camera
not where the kids drive out to the
truck-stops at night
just to feel like
they’re going
somewhere
anywhere

just because it’s beautiful
just because you can see it
doesn’t mean you know
what it means or if
it means anything
it is just beautiful
and that’s okay too
not everything is
meant for knowing
