My my it’s been awhile since I have written !
The closings happened end of Dec. We have kind of been at a standstill since then. But there are a few updates. We are at a standstill for a few reasons:
1) We had a massive snowstorm mid Jan in TN that closed down the state for a week. Then after that, snow melting and a bunch of rain. So no building has taken place.
2) We need to finalize the placement of my home before we can move forward with the build. This hasn’t happened because the most ideal placement of my home according to my father and the foundation dude, is in “unbuildable area” according to my survey. The survey company has no idea why that was put on there and neither does anyone else. The leader of the planning meeting passed some regulation right before we got it approved.
Foundation guy got ahold of Mr. Planning Leader’s secretary. She told us that the county has some type of other rule saying property has to have 100 ft wide of buildable area...... my parcel is long and skinny. There’s only about 80 something feet of buildable area when you take into account the property lines. And my home is 44 ft wide. So I will need to go to another planning meeting and apply for a variance. I am really curious to get a better explanation as to why that regulation was passed in the first place. But we will see, we might not get that explanation.
Once I get the variance, we can finalize the home placement and the foundation build can begin on my property. Footers are starting on besties property. Then, septic permits can be updated. They can’t update the permits until I have my home placement done. We might go and check it out sometime this weekend. I want to take photos!
We were told that the homes will be done being built in the factory sometime in March. So depending on where they bring them to be stored, we might be able to actually see them and walk through them. Move in is still scheduled sometime between May-July.
