So I’m not better, but I feel quite a bit better. Slept more yesterday, was only awoken a couple of times with coughing fits. YAY! Praise God.
Poor hubby is still sick too. We make a sad pair at the moment.
Soooo what did I do for my birthday on Monday?
Well, I didn’t sleep in (due to coughing of course), so I drove Ben to work, cause I’m nice like that. Then I got home and finished sewing my very excellent halloween costume that I’m quite pleased with!
Mom and dad texted and asked if they could take me for lunch, so I said of course! So as I waited for them to arrive to pick me up I altered a few old bras to fit me better. YAY for not having to spend money on new bras!
So they came, and dad had bought me beautiful yellow roses for my birthday, PLUS they got me a nice set of bedsheets for my birthday, which I had really been hoping for. So that was really a blessing. Then off we went to Mongo’s for lunch. I really like Mongo’s, plus you get a free stir fry on your birthday! They also bought me a piece of cake for dessert.
Afterwards we ran a few errands together, which was nice, and we were able to pick up Ben when he was done work. When we got home I had a bit of a rest. Then, right before dinner Ben took me into the living room where he had strung up a piñata. Can you believe I’ve only ever hit one once? And it’s not like I broke it… and I was about 6… so I was really excited about this! He blindfolded me, but didn’t spin me because he didn’t want me hitting anything in our living room except the piñata. It was surprisingly difficult to break! I hit it a bunch blindfolded, then tried with my eyes open… still didn’t break! It was a spongebob square pants so I let Ben hit it, and he decided to break the legs off. When I finally did get it open, and reached in to get the candy, Ben had filled it with little ziplocks of my favourite candy “perfect for taking in your lunch to work” he said. What a thoughtful guy!
Then it was off to dinner! I had to drive of course, because Ben still has the pins in his toes, but he just directed me without giving me the final destination. We love keeping everything a surprise for our birthdays. Well, we finally pulled up in front of Mongo’s! We had previously joked about hitting up both Mongo’s for our birthday to get two free stir fry’s in one day, but this just happened by accident. My parents had no idea he had reservations at Mongo’s for later in the day, and he hadn’t known they would be taking me for lunch there. It was great! He had invited some of my friends, and I had such a wonderful time.
After a lovely meal where I ate far too much, we went back home as it was getting close to my bedtime. There was one last surprise for me. Ben had bought a cake, and I was going to get to do a cake smash! I know it’s for kids, but be real and tell me YOU’VE never wanted to delve into your own cake with just your bare hands and face. It was awesome! We got some fun pictures too. I just face planted my whole face into the cake… and came out so colourful from the icing.
Yes, I’m just a kid in an adult body, I’m okay with that.
